Fluroroscopy is a procedure in which x-rays are produced and can be viewed on a monitor in real time and is performed by a radiologist. A contrast media is often used to highlight structures. This may be given orally, rectally, or by an injection. Patient preparation is usually needed for these exams. Examples of some fluoroscopy procedures include an esophagram, upper GI, and barium enema.
