Clinic Phlebotomist (Waukon Clinic)
Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full time (32 hpw) dedicated and compassionate Clinic Phlebotomist to join our patient-centered clinical care team. This vital role works in collaboration with providers, clinical staff, and laboratory teams to ensure high-quality care and seamless coordination for our patients. The Phlebotomist will assist during patient appointments, performing routine laboratory procedures including specimen collection and preparation, as well as supporting care coordination and follow-up. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is committed to delivering exceptional care.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed a phlebotomy training program or hold MLT credentials.
Experience: At least two years of clinical lab experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Dietary Cook
Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is looking for a part time (18 hpw) Dietary Cook to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with dietary guidelines while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment. You’ll assist in food preparation for patients, staff, and visitors, deliver trays to patient care areas, and help with cleanup and dishwashing duties. The ideal candidate is passionate about cooking, adheres to food safety standards, and is committed to supporting patient health through nutritious meals.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and a strong understanding of sanitation practices and healthcare food service is essential.
Financial Counselor
Veterans Memorial Hospital is seeking Financial Counselor to help patients navigate the financial aspects of their healthcare. Responsibilities include assessing financial needs, explaining insurance coverage and payment options, guiding patients on financial assistance programs, collaborating with the billing department, and assisting with patient registration. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a healthcare setting, knowledge of insurance plans and government programs, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office is required.

EMS Working Manager
Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) is seeking FT EMS Working Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Ambulance Service. The EMS Manager will be a working manager who will lead a dedicated team while collaborating closely with the ER Manager and other emergency services. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational Oversight: directing the daily operations of the VMH Ambulance Service and coordinating with local agencies to ensure smooth transitions of care. Attend county EMS related meetings.
Administrative Duties: Prepare and manage department budgets to maintain cost efficiency and expense containment. Review ambulance patient care reports and charges for accuracy and appropriateness. Keep accurate and up to date stats. Regularly assess and update ambulance chargemaster items to reflect changes in EMS operations costs. Determine staffing needs, schedule staff, and handle payroll entries in accordance with policies. Address complaints and inquiries related to EMS services. Provide feedback on job performance, including coaching, corrective actions, and annual performance appraisals for staff.
Education: (required) High school diploma or equivalent, Advanced EMT licensure (Paramedic preferred). BLS, ACLS, PALS, EVOC and additional certifications as required.
Experience: 2+ years as an Advanced EMT/Paramedic, supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Health Unit Coordinator
Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our dynamic nursing team. In this essential role, you will provide administrative and clerical support to nursing units, serve as a point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, and assist in maintaining smooth daily operations. Responsibilities include managing electronic medical records (EMR), handling patient admissions and discharges, supporting the nursing team with scheduling and staffing needs, and coordinating outpatient appointments and referrals. This is a full-time (36 hpw) position working 2 of 3 weekends and two holidays a year.
Education: High School Graduate, A Health Unit Coordinator certificate or CNA certification is preferred.
Experience: Previous clerical or scheduling experience in a healthcare setting is a plus
Housekeeping
We are seeking two energetic individuals to fill a full-time (40 hpw) and part-time (20 hpw) housekeeping positions. The ideal candidates will be motivated, have positive attitude, and want to work with the #1 Housekeeping team in the Nation. Responsibilities include performing all housekeeping and laundry functions for the hospital, clinics and other outside contracts.
Duties include: scrubbing, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, floor care and related tasks following established cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Full-Time Laboratory Technician
Veterans Memorial Hospital Laboratory currently has a Full Time opening for a Laboratory Technician. Job Duties include the technical performance of Blood Bank, Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis testing. Technicians also perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and other patient services. An associate or bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent required, as well as current MLT or MLS ASCP certification. Blood Bank and Microbiology experience preferred, but not necessary. Training will be provided by the Veterans Memorial Hospital as needed. MT/MLS wage rates paid for both MLT and MLS.
Med Surg / Emergency Room RN

We have a full time 36 hour rotating shift RN position on our med surg floor. This shift will only require every 3rd weekend and two holidays per year. Candidates are required to hold a current Iowa RN License.
Nurse Practitioner – PRN: (Clinics)

Experience: Current Iowa Registered Nurse Licensure, Current Iowa Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure, Completion of an accredited NP or Physician Assistant program, Current Nurse Practitioner certification in Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care, Active DEA License, current provider in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ATLS – Preferred; Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care, two years’ experience with hospital based medical experience.
Patient Access Associate
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full time Patient Access Associate . This role involves greeting patients and guests, scheduling appointments, answering incoming calls, and ensuring all required registration forms are completed. The Patient Access Associate will also collect patient payments (cash/check/credit card), maintain confidentiality, and keep the reception area organized. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Education : high school diploma (or equivalent) and previous experience in a receptionist or registration role in healthcare. The position requires proficiency in using computers, telephones, and scheduling software.
Physical Therapist
The Physical Therapist will be performing outpatient and home health physical therapy services. They will assess, treat, and monitor patients; perform all necessary paperwork and reports, plan and develop new programs; maintain communication with patient, patient’s family and physicians and contract site staff. This is a full-time position.
Education Requirements: Bachelors (B.A., B.S.), master’s degree (M.A., M.S.) or Doctorate (DPT) in Physical Therapy Experience.
Additional Requirements: Physical Therapy board certification and licensure according to state regulations. Supervisor’s license as required by the state Valid Driver’s license.
Radiologic Technologist
We are seeking a full time skilled and dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team and provide essential diagnostic imaging services. In this role, you will acquire radiographs using various modalities, ensuring proper patient positioning and technique to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other medical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining radiology equipment, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure, and maintaining accurate imaging records. This position involves performing procedures such as mammography, CT, MRI, bone densitometry, and fluoroscopy, as well as operating portable radiology equipment in various clinical settings.
Education: Associate's degree in Radiology or an equivalent, be registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), and hold a valid State of Iowa Permit to Practice.
Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred, along with a solid understanding of anatomy, radiation protection, and medical imaging equipment. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality are essential.
Resource Nurse – RN (Postville Clinic)

As an integral member of our clinical care team, you will work collaboratively to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: work collaboratively with the clinical care team to deliver exceptional patient care, systematically and continuously collect, assess, and document patient health data, develop, execute, and evaluate individualized care plans for clinical patients, communicate effectively with patients regarding test results, follow-up appointments, and additional care needs, act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure optimal care coordination, assist with direct patient care and support in various clinical areas as needed.
