Occupational Therapy

The role of Occupational therapists at VMH is to help people regain function following injuries and illnesses.  We treat people who have hip or knee replacement surgery, heart attacks, pneumonia, strokes, diabetes, generalized weakness, skin burns and joint contractures, breathing difficulties, and many other diagnoses.  We specialize in treating people who have broken wrists, hands, or arms to regain strength, movement, and independence in daily activities.  Our services are not only available to our hospital patients, but are offered in nursing homes, outpatient clinics, schools and homes as well.  Some of the other areas that the occupational therapists address are:  Incontinence Therapy, Lymphedema Treatment, ASTYM Therapy, strength arm/hand/shoulder movement, memory & problem solving, home safety, fall prevention, driving evaluations, and energy conservation. If you are interested in more information about occupational therapy services, please call the hospital at 563-568-3411.
